Artists and painters often need a reference image viewer that display images they will use in their artwork.

BeeRef is a free open-source viewer that comes with a floating viewer window to display one or more images as a reference.

BeeRef lets you quickly arrange your reference images and view them while you create. Its minimal interface is designed not to get in the way of your creative process.

BeeRef supports multiple images and allows users to organize their references according to their requirements.

It floats over all of your art programs such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, Inkscape, and Adobe Illustrator.

Features

  • Move, scale, rotate and flip images
  • Mass-scale images to the same width, height or size
  • Mass-arrange images vertically, horizontally or for optimal usage of space
  • Add text notes
  • Enable always-on-top-mode and disable the title bar to let the BeeRef window unobtrusively float above your art program:
  • You can now add plain text notes and paste text from the clipboard
  • You can now open bee files from finder on macOS (by David Andrs)
  • Dragging bee files onto an empty scene will now open them
  • Adding the first image(s) to a new scene centers the view
