giscus is a free, open-source comment system powered by GitHub Discussions. Visitors can leave comments and reactions on your website via GitHub. giscus is heavily inspired by utterances, and is open source, with no tracking, ads, or cost. No database is needed, and all data is stored in GitHub Discussions.

giscus supports custom themes and multiple languages, is configurable, and automatically fetches new comments and edits from GitHub. Giscus can also be self-hosted.

Supported languages include: Arabic (العربية), Deutsch, English. Español, Persian, (فارسی), Français. Indonesian, Italiano, 日本語, 한국어, Nederlands, Polski, Português, Română, Русский, ภาษาไทย, Türkçe, Tiếng Việt, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

How does it work?

When giscus loads, it uses the GitHub Discussions search API to find the discussion associated with the page. If it can't find a match, the giscus bot creates one when someone leaves a comment or reaction. Visitors can comment by authorizing the giscus app or directly on the GitHub Discussion. You can moderate comments on GitHub.
