The Best 16 Apps for Horse Riders and Owners in 2025

Table of Content

As a horse owner, rider, and trainer, alongside my work as a medical doctor and software developer, I understand the value of using the right tools to make my workflow smoother. Over the years, I’ve developed my own apps and scripts to help manage horse training, personal fitness, feeding schedules, exercises, and medical records.

With so many apps available today, it’s easy to get lost in the noise of apps that come and go. Unfortunately, many don’t last, and some quickly become abandoned by their creators after focusing too much on monetization.

My own personal AI Riding Assistant.

That’s why finding the right, reliable app is so important. Apps can simplify daily tasks, improve training routines, and keep everything organized—whether it's tracking performance, managing schedules, or staying on top of health records. But with so many options out there, it’s hard to know which ones actually work and are worth your time.

In this post, I’ll share the most active and usable horse riding apps for riders, owners, and stable managers—apps that I trust to keep everything running smoothly.

1. Horse Rider SOS

Horse Riders SOS is a free safety app that monitors your movement during rides. It is an ideal app for solo riders or trail riders who often ride in remote areas.

If a fall or accident is detected, the app sends an alert to emergency contacts with your GPS location. Ideal for peace of mind while riding alone.

If you are a solo horse rider like me, then this app is for you.

2. Equilab - Equestrian Tracker

Equilab allows you to track your rides, analyze performance, and monitor horse health and activity. It has several social network features, as you can connect with your teams, add different horse profiles, and follow your training.

Equilab tracks distance, speed, and time during rides using GPS and provides insights into training. It even detects the gait you're in, perfect for improving technique.

As a solo rider, who tend to get long distances as 10-30/40 km a ride, I tend to use Equilab, however it is NOT ideal when there is no cellphone coverage. I have been using it for years.

The app is good; however, it has recently restricted most of the statistics to push users toward purchasing a subscription.

It is important to note that most of the app's useful features are behind a paywall, requiring a subscription. Additionally, language support is not ideal, and the app occasionally hangs or crashes.

  • Equilab is available for iOS and Android.

3. HorseLinc

This app stands out from most on the list because it helps horse owners manage feeding routines, medical records, and overall horse care. It even includes invoicing and billing, which is a nice bonus. It's available for both Android and iOS.

  • Why I Like It: The concept is great—it covers everything from scheduling vet, farrier, and dental appointments to tracking expenses and health records.
  • Best For: Anyone with multiple horses or those handling horse care professionally.

The app is functional and does what it promises. It might not be the most polished, but it’s a handy tool for keeping everything organized.

4. Equestrian Training Journal

The Equestrian Training Journal is a digital tool for tracking training goals, progress, and performance. I’ve used it to set and monitor my riding improvements, and it’s been really helpful. Available for Android and iOS, it’s great for training-focused riders.

5. Trackener

Trackener is a must-have for horse owners who want 24/7 health monitoring. I’ve used it to track my horse’s activity, sleep, and overall wellness, and it provides valuable insights. With its wearable device, it’s essential for proactive horse care. Available for Android and iOS.

6. My Barn Helper

My Barn Helper is a great tool for farm owners, barn managers, and horse care teams. I’ve used it to organize feeding schedules, staff tasks, and barn maintenance, and it really helps keep everything running smoothly. Ideal for managing multiple horses, it ensures nothing is overlooked. Available for Android and iOS.

7. Dressage Hero

Dressage Hero is my go-to for practicing test patterns with voice prompts. It’s perfect for sharpening skills and preparing for competitions! Riders can review test movements, memorize patterns, and track their progress. Great for riders preparing for dressage events.

PonyApp keeps my horse’s schedule organized with training reminders and performance tracking. It’s perfect for busy riders juggling competitions, training, and health care!

It includes a timeline of your horse’s activities and reminders for training sessions, ideal for riders managing multiple activities.

Whinny Widgets is great for dressage riders. It helps organize test movements, memorize patterns, and track progress, making prep for events much easier. A must-have for serious dressage practice!

While I am not a dressage rider, i really like this app.

12. Ridely

Ridely is a training and video-sharing app offering expert tips from professional riders. It’s ideal for riders of all levels, particularly those focused on European disciplines like dressage and jumping. However, it doesn’t cover endurance or other disciplines. Perfect for improving technique!

It Offers instructional videos across disciplines like dressage and jumping. Great for riders seeking expert guidance independently.

13. OnTrail

OnTrail helps trail riders discover and navigate horse-friendly routes with user-submitted maps and ratings—perfect for exploring new locations.

14. Map My Ride

Map My Ride is a general fitness app perfect for trail and endurance riders. It tracks distance, time, and calories, helping to log rides and analyze routes. While not designed specifically for horses, it’s still a great tool for tracking riding progress.

With this cool app you can tracks distance, time, and calories, useful for logging rides and analyzing routes, despite not being horse-specific.
