Thanks to artificial intelligence - Ray-Ban Meta glasses "Remember and Understand"
Meta did not present a new version of its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses at its annual Meta Connect 2024 conference this year, but it provided last year's version with new artificial intelligence features to improve performance and provide a better experience for users.
First, Meta revealed fundamental updates to the way voice interaction with its Meta AI smart assistant on board Ray-Ban glasses, as the user will need to say "Hey Meta" to start a new conversation, and then ask his questions in succession, without the need to repeat the phrase with each question or inquiry.
The user can also ask a direct question about what he sees in front of him, without the need to start his inquiry with the phrase "Look and", which will make voice communication with Meta's assistant more natural.
Ray-Ban Meta.. Glasses that remember
Meta has added a new feature that allows Ray-Ban Meta glasses to remember the locations of things that the user asks them to remember, such as where their car is parked in a parking lot, or where they keep an important key.
Perceptive vision
Meta has expanded the visual capabilities of its Meta AI smart assistant on board Ray-Ban Meta glasses. With the new LlaMa 3.2 smart model and its superior ability to understand visual content, users can now ask Meta AI more complex questions about what they see in front of them.
For example, a user can ask Meta AI questions during their tour of a city they are visiting for the first time, and they will get information about famous landmarks in the city, and they can also ask Meta AI to prepare a list of the most important landmarks and distinctive places worth visiting.
With the new update, users can get live responses in real time about many variables in the scene in front of them, such as the user entering a store and starting to ask Meta AI about a specific recipe that can be prepared with the ingredients the user purchases, and then the user asks a question about a specific sauce they want to buy, and whether it will be suitable for the recipe or not.
With Ray-Ban Meta glasses, the user will be able to deal with the texts he encounters around him better, as he can rely on the Meta AI assistant to make a phone call by calling a number printed on a poster or advertisement in front of him, in addition to the ability to scan a QR Code printed instantly.
Instant translation
Meta also reviewed the instant translation feature between English, Spanish and Italian, as two people speaking any of these three languages, and wearing Ray-Ban Meta glasses, can talk to each other freely and fluently, as each of them will speak his language, while the other's glasses translate in real time into the second language quickly, and Meta plans to support more languages with the instant translation feature in the future.
Support for the Visually Impaired
Meta also introduced other new features, such as its cooperation with Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio and Audible, as Ray-Ban Meta glasses users can browse content, search and play, and control everything they hear with their voices.
The user can also get information about what he hears on these services via the Meta AI assistant, as the user can, for example, ask a question about the history of the song he is listening to, and which album it was on when it was released.
Meta also collaborated with Be My Eyes, which provides a service via a mobile application that allows volunteers to help the blind in their daily lives, so that they can benefit from Ray-Ban Meta glasses and the wide angle of their front cameras, so that the volunteer can have a better and broader vision in terms of perspective, to provide the maximum possible benefit to the user when dealing with the world around him.
New design and lenses
Meta, in cooperation with the owner of the Ray-Ban brand, the Italian company Luxottica, revealed a transparent design for Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which shows all the internal components of the glasses, and it is a limited-time release.
The two companies also added multiple options to their Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, as they are now available with Transitional Lens lenses that combine complete transparency and dark black, and switch between them according to the degree of sunlight in indoor environments and outdoor conditions to comfort the eyes.
