Gemini Nano arrives on Xiaomi 14T Xiaomi Mix Flip phones

Google has begun expanding the availability of its lightweight Gemini Nano smartphone to more Android phones, this time Xiaomi phones.

The Chinese company indicated that the Xiaomi phones that received support for the Gemini Nano are the Xiaomi 14T, the Xiaomi 14T Pro, and the first version of the company's vertically foldable phones, the Xiaomi Mix Flip.

It is worth noting that Xiaomi phones are the latest Android phones to receive support for the Google Gemini Nano smartphone model, joining the list of phones that allow this, which are the Google Pixel 8 in its various versions, Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S24 in its various versions, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Realme GT 6.

What is Gemini Nano?

Google introduced its smaller model, the Gemini Nano, in December 2023, which is an AI model developed to run on smartphones.

The Gemini Nano enables several features, such as the Summarize in Recorder feature, which helps summarize audio clips recorded via the Recorder app, and supports creating responses to messages using artificial intelligence, Smart Reply, while using the Google keyboard app, Gboard.

Gemini Nano's reliance on the neural processing unit available in leading smartphone processors allows users to keep their information completely private, as all data is processed locally on their phones, without leaving any information to the phone manufacturers' servers, in addition to ensuring the speed of performance of artificial intelligence features, and enjoying them without the need to connect to the Internet.

The audio clips summarization feature will allow the user to record any clips of meetings, lectures, or even traditional audio recordings of the user himself, and then convert those recordings into texts, after which a specific button is pressed within the Recorder application, to use Google's smart model "Gemini Nano" to summarize the texts and convert them into clear main points.

The smart replies feature will rely on "Gemini Nano", within all instant messaging applications, and is available within a number of applications such as WhatsApp.
